What Is a Hydrafacial?

Hydrafacial is a four-step cosmetic treatment used to cleanse, exfoliate, and extract facial skin in only one session. The Hydrafacial treatment also delivers a variety of rejuvenating serums to the skin. The various parts of the treatment process combine to create smoother, firmer, more vibrant skin.

What Are the Steps of a Hydrafacial?

To improve the overall health and complexion of the facial skin, Hydrafacial treatment features four separate steps:

Step 1: Cleansing and Exfoliation

The first step of the Hydrafacial process involves cleansing and exfoliating the facial skin. Known as Vortex-exfoliation, this step uses a special handpiece to clear away dead skin cells and debris and open up the pores. By removing the grime and dead skin from your face, the treatment allows new, healthy skin to emerge.

Step 2: Acid Peel

The next Hydrafacial step is the acid peel, also called the Vortex-peel. This acid peel won’t sting or sore your facial skin like other chemical peels. The peel consists of glycolic and salicylic acid, and when it’s applied to the skin, it provides hydration with a nutrient-rich solution. These nutrients penetrate the pores, which loosens debris and makes it easier to remove later. After your acid peel, your facial skin will feel soft and rejuvenated.

Step 3: Extraction

The third step of the Hydrafacial treatment, known as Vortex-extraction, involves using a unique wand, which gently sucks the dirt, dead cells, and grime out of your facial pores. After the debris is loosened during the acid peel step, everything clogging up your pores should be easy to remove. Vortex extraction is less tough on the skin than other common extraction forms.

Step 4: Serum Application

The final step of the Hydrafacial process involves delivering various serums to the facial skin. This part of the treatment is known as Vortex-Fusion. The unique Hydrafacial wand applies collagen and antioxidant serums directly to the skin during this step. These special serums hydrate the skin, increase its elasticity, and improve its complexion. This part of the Hydrafacial treatment addresses cosmetic issues such as wrinkles, fine lines, uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage.
