Benefits of a breast lift with implants

A breast lift with implants can achieve a stunning outcome, with the following benefits:

  • Raises the breasts to a youthful position
  • Resolves excess skin
  • Enhances shape, volume, and position
  • Creates larger, rounder, more youthful breasts
  • Produces the beauty of visible cleavage
  • Improves symmetry
  • Boosts your self-image and confidence

Am I a candidate?

If you’re considering a breast lift with implants, we can determine if you’re a good candidate. Likely candidates for breast augmentation with a lift are women who:

  • Want more prominent and perkier breasts
  • Are non-smokers in good health
  • Are maintaining a healthy weight
  • Feel less confident due to looser, saggy breasts
  • Have downward-pointing nipples
  • Have breasts that are uneven in size

If you are planning on having more children, you may want to postpone the procedure as the results can be altered by pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you feel that you meet these criteria, it’s time to start considering what your implant options are.

Breast implant options: Lift with augmentation

During your consultation, Dr. Courtney will help you determine the size, shape, and projection for your implants to best achieve the look you envision. He will discuss any questions or concerns and inform you of the benefits of each type of implant. Dr. Courtney will never put pressure on you; rather, he is here to help you get the breasts you want.

Types of implants for a breast augmentation with lift in Houston

Saline vs. Silicone

Although saline implants were the first to enter the market, silicone implants are the most popular option as they have the weight and bounce of natural breasts. Saline implants require shorter incisions and are the sole choice for women ages 18-21. Feel free to read about the differences between implants in more detail on our breast augmentation page.

Round vs. Teardrop-Shaped

Your decision regarding the type and size of your implant will reflect your unique body and what’s most important to you. Dr. Courtney will discuss each option with you in detail to create the best surgical plan that aims to capture your vision. Round implants provide more volume at the top of the breasts, and teardrop-shaped, or anatomical implants, were developed to more closely mimic natural breast shape.

What is the surgical procedure?

Dr. Courtney does not believe in a cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all approach to cosmetic surgery. This is why he utilizes a range of techniques when performing a breast lift with augmentation.

Generally, a breast lift creates a youthful position on the chest, repositions the nipples, so they are centered on the breast mound, and brings more volume for a perky, rejuvenated look.

Implant placement

The implant placement will reflect your unique body type, as they can be placed in a subglandular (above the breast muscle) or submuscular (beneath the chest muscle). Generally, submuscular placement may be ideal for women with less natural breast tissue to create a very natural look. A dual-plane technique positions the implant partially under the muscle and partially above the muscle. This technique creates a very natural look that lasts, with less risk, and does not inhibit mammogram testing.

What should I expect during the surgery?

Restoring firm, round breasts with a lift with augmentation will generally take around three hours to complete, with some variation. We perform most of our surgeries at our surgical center at the Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery in Houston. Our AAAHC-certified surgery center offers discretion, privacy, personalized care, and advanced technology.

After the procedure, you will have one-on-one nursing care to monitor your recovery before you go home. Ensure you arrange a friend or family member to drive you home after your procedure and to stay with you for a day or two.

What is the recovery after a breast augmentation with lift?

After your procedure, you can expect to feel sore, stiff, and fatigued for a few days, as your body needs time to rest and heal. Dr. Courtney will prescribe pain medication to alleviate any discomfort. In about a week to ten days, you will return to our clinic for a follow-up. Dr. Courtney will remove the bandages, any stitches, and ensure you are feeling well and strong.

It is normal to experience some swelling and bruising, which fades away in the following few weeks. To help support and position your newly-restored breasts, you will be wearing a support bra or compression bandage. Your incisions appear like a pinkish line initially but fade as time passes. The recovery time varies, as everyone heals at a different rate, but is generally within a few weeks.

You can begin light activity, such as gentle walks, within a few days, and you should. You will need to miss your usual workouts or exercise for at least three weeks. Ensure you avoid lifting, including small children and pets, during the early stages of your recovery.  Unless your job requires vigorous physical motions, you should be able to return to work within approximately a week.

FAQ:

Breast Augmentation with Lift Houston

Are there other procedures that I can combine with a breast lift with implants?

Yes. Liposuction and a tummy tuck can produce a more thorough body reshaping. A mommy makeover is a combination of multiple operations to restore a pre-baby body after pregnancy and breastfeeding. Dr. Courtney will help you decide if pairing these procedures will be right for you.

Will I have scars?

As with any surgery, you will have scars. However, the incisions for breast surgery heal very well, and over time will become almost indetectable. Dr. Courtney will discuss incision techniques and scarring during your consultation.

Can I breastfeed after a breast lift with implants?

The vast majority of women can breastfeed after the procedure, although this can vary based on the size of the implants. The type of breast lift performed may impact the ability to breastfeed. If you plan on having more children and want to breastfeed, ensure you inform Dr. Courtney, so he employs the optimal procedure for you.

When can I return to my regular routine after breast lift with implants?

Although healing and recovery differ from patient to patient, most of our patients can return to their normal activities after two months, including sports and vigorous exercise.
