What Is Avéli?

Avéli is an innovative cosmetic treatment performed to reduce the appearance of cellulite dimples around the thighs and buttocks. The procedure attacks cellulite at its source to leave the skin looking smooth and youthful.

How Does Avéli Work?

To understand the Avéli treatment process, it’s important to understand how cellulite is formed in the first place. The little skin divots known as cellulite are caused by fibrous bands of connective tissue located beneath the skin. These bands are called septa, and they tug inward on the skin, which creates cellulite dimples. So, to eliminate cellulite, Avéli works by severing these bands of connective tissue.

Specifically, Avéli treatment uses a special handheld device, which is inserted through small incisions in the skin. The device then deploys a tiny blade, which can be precisely controlled to cut individual septa bands. Once the bands of connective tissue responsible for the cellulite have been severed, the pull on the skin is released, allowing the skin to once again become smooth and firm.

Benefits of Avéli

Avéli is a revolutionary treatment that can provide many notable benefits. The most common benefits of the procedure include:

  • Significantly reduces the appearance of cellulite around the thighs and buttocks
  • Creates smoother, firmer, more youthful-looking skin
  • Minimally invasive treatment
  • Long-lasting results
  • Increased self-confidence
  • Safe, FDA-cleared treatment
  • Minimal recovery downtime
  • Increased wardrobe options

What Should I Expect During the Procedure?

Before your Avéli treatment, the first step will be to have a consultation with Dr. Courtney. During this meeting, he will talk with you about the procedure, answer all of your questions, and listen to your specific aesthetic goals. If it’s determined that you’re a good candidate for Avéli and want to proceed, Dr. Courtney will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan that addresses your unique needs.

Your Avéli treatment will be a relatively quick outpatient procedure performed using local anesthesia. Once the anesthesia has taken effect, Dr. Courtney will begin by making several small incisions in the treatment area. Next, he will insert the Avéli handpiece through the incisions and begin carefully cutting the individual septa bands that are causing your cellulite. Once all of the bands have been severed, Dr. Courtney will close the incisions with stitches and apply bandages as needed. Overall, the Avéli procedure usually takes around an hour to complete, and you’ll be able to return home shortly after it’s finished.

How Long Is the Recovery Time?

After your Avéli treatment, Dr. Courtney will give you detailed instructions to ensure that your healing process goes smoothly. You will likely experience some bruising after the procedure, which can last for up to four weeks. It may also be uncomfortable to sit on the treated area for the first few days. Most patients can return to work and resume their normal routines after only a couple of days, but it’s best to avoid strenuous physical activity for at least a week or two.

Am I a Candidate for Avéli?

Adults who are experiencing mild to moderate cellulite around the thighs and/or buttocks could be good candidates for Avéli. To be an ideal candidate for the procedure, you should:

  • Be in generally good physical health
  • Have the desire to be rid of cellulite around the thighs and/or buttocks
  • Have realistic expectations for the treatment
  • Be a non-smoker or willing to temporarily quit
  • Not be currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Be relatively close to your ideal weight
  • Be between the ages of 25 and 45

How Long Will It Take To See Results After Avéli Treatment?

Usually, you will start to notice your skin in the treatment area looking smoother and firmer in around two weeks to one month after your Avéli procedure. However, the final results of the treatment won’t become visible until the swelling and bruising have subsided. Depending on the patient, this can take anywhere from one to three months.

Although new cellulite can eventually start to develop in the treated area, the effects of Avéli are typically long-lasting and can remain for several years.
