Fight Cellulite with Cellfina

Having cellulite doesn’t mean that you haven’t taken care of your body. It’s caused by the subdermal layer of your skin tethering to connective tissues in your body, causing a dimpled, uneven look on your skin. Thankfully, we offer an effective, minimally invasive treatment to smooth away cellulite and restore your sexiness and confidence: Cellfina®. Dr. Courtney often performs cellulite reduction with Cellfina as an add-on procedure during cosmetic surgery, significantly enhancing the results of a mommy makeover or BBL. However, it is also available as a stand-alone procedure.

What is Cellfina?

Cellfina is a simple, FDA-cleared cellulite treatment that targets the development of cellulite quickly and creates a visible smoothing to the affected area. It targets the connective tissue bands that pull the skin, releasing it to restore a smoother, firmer, and more youthful appearance. In many cases, the benefits of Cellfina can be enjoyed for many years after the procedure. It is highly effective for women of all ages and requires little-to-no downtime.

Cellfina can be used to treat cellulite anywhere on the body, including:

  • Thighs
  • Arms
  • Buttocks
  • Breasts
  • Lower abdomen

Cellfina addresses the underlying causes of cellulite

Cellulite forms on your body when the connective tissue bands in your skin pull the skin downward, pressing it against the fat layer and causing the uneven, dimpled look of cellulite. No matter what your body type is, cellulite can be an issue.  While losing fat can reduce the appearance of cellulite, most women are unable to eradicate the dimples of cellulite with exercise due to their genetic predisposition, which is where Cellfina comes in.

Cellfina works underneath the skin to treat cellulite at its source. It surgically breaks apart the connective bands, releasing your skin and allowing it to “bounce back” to appear smooth and firm.

Cellfina: What to expect

We want you to feel comfortable and relaxed during your treatment, so Dr. Courtney begins by numbing the skin with a topical anesthetic. We offer anti-anxiety medication for greater comfort, or the option of Pronox on request, a patient-controlled pain relief and anti-anxiety system. Once the anesthetic takes effect, Dr. Courtney uses the specialized Cellfina device to break apart the tissue bands underneath the skin. Tiny incisions are needed so that the microblade can access the tissue bands, but these incisions are needle-sized and do not leave visible scarring. The procedure is considered painless and usually takes about an hour. Once complete, we recommend heading home and taking the rest of the day off to recover.

Recovery after Cellfina

Dr. Courtney will give you detailed aftercare instructions and is available if you have questions or concerns during the recovery process. You will be back to your everyday life quickly after treatment. Recovery usually progresses rapidly, and before you know it, you should notice the results of your Cellfina treatment.

  • No downtime is required, but we recommend taking it easy for at least 24 hours after treatment.
  • You will likely experience some tenderness in the treatment areas, but this fades quickly. Dr. Courtney will give you simple tips for increasing your comfort during the recovery process and can provide pain medications if needed.
  • The most common side effects during recovery are bruising, tenderness, and swelling. These can last for up to four weeks, but typically resolve much sooner.

Cellfina is safe and effective for all patients aged 18 and older. This treatment:

  • Works on many skin types and textures, including aging skin
  • Is safe for both men and women
  • Is minimally invasive
  • Provides long-lasting results

Cellfina offers many advantages over the other cellulite treatments available. Since it targets the structural cause of cellulite, it works to resolve the issue rather than just hiding it. It is minimally invasive and offers fewer risks than a surgical operation. Most of our patients experience very few side effects.
